{"id":38963,"date":"2021-04-06T18:00:09","date_gmt":"2021-04-06T17:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=38963"},"modified":"2021-04-03T12:16:25","modified_gmt":"2021-04-03T11:16:25","slug":"picture-in-time-tyne-and-wear-metro-bl1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=38963","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Tyne and Wear Metro BL1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cPicture in Time\u201d is again heading to the Tyne and Wear Metro network today as we take a look at one of the fairly elusive battery locomotives.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The actual passenger trains used on the Tyne and Wear Metro are frequently seen for obvious reasons but more elusive are the battery locomotives used for engineering trains \u2013 and Rail Head Treatment Trains. With many regular travellers not knowing of their existence the only nailed on opportunity to see them has been at Depot Open Days, such as the 30<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary event on 8<sup>th<\/sup> August 2010.<\/p>\n<p>That is when we see Hunslet built <strong>BL1<\/strong> inside the main shed.
