The bridge is currently closed off under the Spaces for People arrangements and in the long-term the Council have aspirations for this to be a permanent closure as part of the City Centre Transformation Plan. The tram is just passing where a new stop may be constructed in the future to provide better access to Waverley Railway Station and could also be served by the proposed Northwest\/Southeast tram service from Granton to the BioQuarter.
