{"id":38877,"date":"2021-03-30T22:00:47","date_gmt":"2021-03-30T21:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=38877"},"modified":"2021-03-30T16:27:58","modified_gmt":"2021-03-30T15:27:58","slug":"heaton-park-tramway-sets-reopening-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=38877","title":{"rendered":"Heaton Park tramway sets reopening date"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we all continue to look ahead to a time when restrictions are eased further, the Heaton Park Tramway have confirmed that they are planning to resume passenger services from Saturday 5<sup>th<\/sup> June. This date will allow the volunteers at the tramway to get everything prepared to welcome passengers back onto the tramway for what will be the first operation since Lightopia and the first \u201cnormal\u201d running since last March!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While it is possible for heritage lines to start running again from 12<sup>th<\/sup> April as part of the \u201croadmap\u201d (a word which appears to be the overused word for 2021 after the many, many overused words we all started to use last year!), the team at Heaton Park have taken the sensible decision to make sure the tramway is looking its best and is fully operational when they welcome back passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Included in work which they aim to complete before the re-opening is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Staff familiarisation<\/li>\n<li>Sleeper replacement between Whitegate and Old Lakeside<\/li>\n<li>Archive reorganisation<\/li>\n<li>Workshop restructure<\/li>\n<li>Improve the appearance of the trams<\/li>\n<li>Museum improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We\u2019re sure everyone can wait a few more months before enjoying a tram ride at Heaton Park once more with it looking as good as new when it does resume operation!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_38878\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=38878\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-38878\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38878\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-38878\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/1.sleeper-hpt-550x413.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/1.sleeper-hpt-550x413.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/1.sleeper-hpt-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/1.sleeper-hpt-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/1.sleeper-hpt.jpg 1290w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-38878\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">New sleepers have been delivered for the sleeper replacement project.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_38879\" style=\"width: 466px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=38879\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-38879\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38879\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38879\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/2.619-hpt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"456\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-38879\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The next tram to go through the workshops \u2013 now that Stockport 5 is back in service \u2013 will be Blackpool 619.
