{"id":38828,"date":"2021-03-27T10:00:18","date_gmt":"2021-03-27T10:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=38828"},"modified":"2021-03-26T16:26:35","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T16:26:35","slug":"lockdown-walks-edinburgh-trams-266-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=38828","title":{"rendered":"Lockdown Walks: Edinburgh Trams 266"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we take another trip to Edinburgh for one of our \u201cLockdown Walks\u201d as we continue to take a look at some of the historic buildings which surround the tramway.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This time around we can see Edinburgh Castle \u2013 the oldest part of which is the tiny St Margaret\u2019s Chapel from 1130. The castle was built on a volcanic plug and we see it here in this photo taken from the aptly named Castle Street., a road which was pedestrianised in the early 2000s. Just behind the tram is a statue of Thomas Guthrie (1803-73), Free Church preacher and philanthropist. This is definitely a photo to be logged under the not likely to get it if it wasn\u2019t for lockdown category!
