{"id":36779,"date":"2020-12-12T09:00:45","date_gmt":"2020-12-12T09:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=36779"},"modified":"2020-12-11T19:30:45","modified_gmt":"2020-12-11T19:30:45","slug":"trams-glasgow-1017-garratt-steam-locomotive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=36779","title":{"rendered":"Trams &#038;: Glasgow 1017 &#038; Garratt steam locomotive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this edition of \u201cTrams &amp;\u201d we are heading to Scotland\u2019s only operating heritage tramway at Summerlee.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Probably the current \u201cposter tram\u201d of the Summerlee is <strong>Glasgow 1017<\/strong> which is one of the most used trams on the short operating tramway at the museum which runs from the entrance to the mine for a small charge. This small single decker is one of two Scottish trams currently operational at the museum although a third will follow when the restoration of <strong>Glasgow 1245<\/strong> is completed.<\/p>\n<p>On 3<sup>rd<\/sup> July 2015 we see <strong>1017<\/strong> on a sunny day at Summerlee as it passes the large Garratt steam locomotive which is on outside display. Numbered 4112 this loco was built by the North British Locomotive Company in 1956 for export to South Africa.
