Clapton Depot, London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another trip to London for this edition of \u201cStill Standing!\u201d as we take a look at the old Clapton Depot.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Initially known as Hackney Depot it was opened by the North Metropolitan Tramways Company in 1883. It was then taken over by the LCC on 1<sup>st<\/sup> April 1906 before London Transport took control on 1<sup>st<\/sup> July 1933. It originally housed horse trams (up to 17<sup>th<\/sup> May 1907) before electric trams moved in (until 9<sup>th<\/sup> December 1940) and then trolleybuses (from 11<sup>th<\/sup> June 1939 to 14<sup>th<\/sup> April 1959). It has been a bus garage ever since.
