It is usually a very popular event for families but the Polar Express tram rides for 2020 at the Seaton Tramway have now been cancelled as a result of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the latest lockdown and what may come after it. The decision was taken reluctantly by the tramway after reviewing their options but they have promised they will be back bigger and better than ever before.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson from the Seaton Tramway said: \u201c\u201cAfter working endlessly throughout the year to provide a COVID secure event for your families to enjoy, we have always been optimistic that we would still be able to offer this magical Christmas experience. However, the new national lockdown, along with the uncertainties surrounding what will be allowed after the 2nd<\/sup> December, means we are simply unable to set up and deliver this event. We will now be putting all our efforts into ensuring THE POLAR EXPRESSTM<\/sup> Tram Ride 2021 is our biggest and best yet. As a charity, who has been proud to host this event since 2015, we want to ensure we can create the forever memories we know we have delivered for the past 5 years.\u201d<\/p>\n Any ticketholders for the Polar Express are being contacted and will be either offered a full transfer to 2021 or a refund.<\/p>\n This is the latest blow for the tramway \u2013 a registered tramway \u2013 with the money which comes in through trips such as the Polar Express being a crucial form of funding which helps get them through the quiet winter period. The tramway managed to run daily services from early July until Sunday 1st<\/sup> November but is now closed again (daily services were due to have ended anyway as they would in a normal year).
