It had been due to get underway on Monday 19<sup>th<\/sup> October.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Senior Coroner, Sarah Ormond-Walshe said in a statement: \u201cI am very concerned about the jury. I do not think it is reasonable, given the increase in the Tier level for London and the infection rate in Croydon, to oblige a juror to spend the next few weeks in a room with 10 strangers. For the time being, therefore, the start of the Sandilands Inquests has been delayed by Covid-19. However, my team and I will continue as far as possible to take proactive steps, with a view to resuming, if at all possible, as soon as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With the inquest due to take place at Croydon Town Hall it isn\u2019t possible for the main chamber to accommodate the jurors, court staff and solicitors with an increased 2 metre social distancing requirement now in place.<\/p>\n<p>The inquest had originally opened on 21<sup>st<\/sup> November 2016 but was adjourned while further Police investigations took place.
