On 8th<\/sup> October 1960 the last trams ran in Sheffield \u2013 or at least it was thought they did, until Supertram came along! \u2013 and now some 60 years later Crich Tramway Village will be marking the occasion with the display of Roberts Car 510<\/strong> outside the depot for photos.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, none of the Sheffield trams in the collection at Crich are currently commissioned for service (510<\/strong> itself, 74<\/strong> and horse car 15<\/strong> were all due to be commissioned at the start of the year but in the end none have managed to turn a wheel in service as they weren\u2019t used before lockdown and with a limited number of trams needed post-lockdown they weren\u2019t considered suitable for use \u2013 and of course 15<\/strong> was missing the crucial ingredient of a horse and with social distancing could probably hold about 4 people!) but keen to mark the occasion Sheffield\u2019s official last car, 510<\/strong>, will be displayed on the depot fan throughout Thursday 8th<\/sup> October.<\/p>\n

In a year when it hasn\u2019t been possible to celebrate much its good to see the anniversary being marked in some way. Of course, there was a Sheffield tram line-up at last year\u2019s TMS 60 event in September \u2013 some questioned at the time why it wasn\u2019t held back to 2020 but it now appears the organisers knew they wouldn\u2019t be able to do anything on that scale 12 months later!<\/p>\n
