{"id":35533,"date":"2020-09-10T22:00:10","date_gmt":"2020-09-10T21:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=35533"},"modified":"2020-09-10T16:44:22","modified_gmt":"2020-09-10T15:44:22","slug":"in-pictures-399-206-returns-to-service-as-a-tram","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=35533","title":{"rendered":"In Pictures: 399 206 returns to service as a tram"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the first time since the early days of the tram-train service, Stagecoach Supertram have reverted to a four\/three split of the Citylink vehicles with three now back with the tram wheel profiles. <strong>399 206<\/strong> returned to service with the standard tram wheel profile on Wednesday 9<sup>th<\/sup> September \u2013 believed to be its first use as a \u201ctram\u201d since it received the tram-train wheel profile back in October 2018.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As you may recall back in October 2018 when the tram-train service commenced there were four of the Citylink vehicles with wheel profiles allowing them to travel on Network Rail metals \u2013 namely <strong>399 201<\/strong>, <strong>399 202<\/strong>, <strong>399 203<\/strong> and <strong>399 204<\/strong>. However, with firstly <strong>399 204<\/strong> and then <strong>399 201<\/strong> suffering accident damage it was necessary for an extra vehicle to go over to tram-train operation \u2013 and <strong>399 206<\/strong> was chosen.<\/p>\n<p>But with <strong>399 204<\/strong> (which features part of <strong>399 201<\/strong>) returning to service in January 2020 and a reduction in the tram-train service to only two an hour during the pandemic, having five of the seven strong class available for use on the service to Rotherham Parkgate was probably a little bit excessive and so <strong>399 206<\/strong> has now received the standard wheel profiles again.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday 9<sup>th<\/sup> September <strong>399 206<\/strong> was allocated to the Yellow route between Middlewood and Meadowhall.
