The culmination of 12 month project to replace the track on the Tyne and Wear Metro in Gateshead and Tyne and Wear will take place over four weekends in August, it has been confirmed. This is the latest phase of a \u00a38 million track renewals programme and will centre on an 1.8km stretch of line between Heworth and Pelaw.<\/p>\n

The work will take place as follows:<\/p>\n
Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th August: No trains Gateshead Stadium-South Shields\/South Hylton<\/p>\n
Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th August: No trains Gateshead Stadium-Jarrow\/South Hylton<\/p>\n
Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd August: No trains Gateshead Stadium-Jarrow\/South Hylton<\/p>\n
Saturday 29th to Monday 31st August: No trains Gateshead Stadium to Jarrow\/South Hylton<\/p>\n
Replacement bus services will run on all four weekends, including express bus services.
