{"id":33600,"date":"2020-05-05T18:00:33","date_gmt":"2020-05-05T17:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=33600"},"modified":"2020-05-05T16:39:40","modified_gmt":"2020-05-05T15:39:40","slug":"around-the-world-in-trams-auckland-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=33600","title":{"rendered":"Around the World in Trams: Auckland 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Let\u2019s go back \u201cdown under\u201d for photos taken earlier in 2020 \u2013 this time we are heading to New Zealand with a visit to MOTAT in Auckland, home to several historic trams as well as an operating tramway linking two parts of the museum via the Zoo.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Described as a very friendly museum by our correspondent, MOTAT (that the Museum of Technology and Transport) has a varied collection of trams with the ubiquitous Melbourne W class of trams providing the workhorses for the service but that\u2019s not all there is and if you ever find yourself in Auckland it is well worth the visit.<\/p>\n<p>In the first of our photos below we see <strong>Auckland 11<\/strong> \u2013 described as the most precious vehicle in the collection. Not only is it the first tram to be built in Auckland (previous examples had been built at Brush, Loughborough before exporting to New Zealand) but is also New Zealand\u2019s oldest electric vehicle.
