Stuart Clarke, who started at Nexus in 1997 as an apprentice electrician, has recently been appointed into the role of Metro Infrastructure Director. In this role he will head up all the maintenance and modernisation work on the 77km Tyne and Wear Metro network.<\/p>\n
Over the past 22 years, Stuart has taken on a number of roles at Nexus and was most recently Head of Renewals, looking after the Metro: all change modernisation programme. He has also gained a degree in engineering and a mater\u2019s degree in project management.<\/p>\n
Stuart said: \u201cIt\u2019s a great moment in my career and I\u2019m very proud to have been appointed into the role. When I think back my time as an apprentice and all the hard work that I\u2019ve put in over the years it is all now so worthwhile. This will hopefully show other apprentices at the start of their careers what it\u2019s possible to achieve if they work hard enough. I am really looking forward to the challenge. I\u2019ll be taking a pro-active approach so that we can make improvements and get more reliability from Metro\u2019s vital infrastructure, because that means fewer disruptions for our passengers. Nexus as an employer has played such a huge part in where I\u2019ve got to today. The organisation\u2019s commitment to training and development is second to none. I\u2019m looking forward to seeing more of our apprentices making their mark in the years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
