As we resume our look at trams from outside of the British Isles we stop off for the next few weeks in Potsdam, Germany where trams having been operating since 1880.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Potsdam, a city in its own right, is just beyond the south-western fringes of Berlin and has a fairly extensive tram network of just under 29kms long with 127 stops served. Operated by ViP Verkehrsbetrieb Potsdam GmBH there is a fleet of 53 trams consisting of three different types.<\/p>\n<p>In the below photo we see no. <strong>409<\/strong> on route 96 to Marie-Juchacz-Strasse at Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. This tram is one of 17 Siemens Combino trams delivered to Potsdam, with <strong>409<\/strong> being one of eight seven section vehicles (there are also eight five section trams and a prototype four section car).
