{"id":31651,"date":"2019-12-21T10:00:45","date_gmt":"2019-12-21T10:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=31651"},"modified":"2019-12-15T11:42:13","modified_gmt":"2019-12-15T11:42:13","slug":"15-years-apart-blackpool-balloon-701","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=31651","title":{"rendered":"15 Years Apart: Blackpool Balloon 701"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, its Blackpool again and yes its another Balloon Car in this edition of \u201c15 Years Apart\u201d \u2013 this time its <strong>Balloon 701<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Whilst a lot of this series we have seen Blackpool trams going from a non-standard livery to green and cream, <strong>701<\/strong> is the complete opposite! In 2004, <strong>Balloon 701<\/strong> was running in a coat of original green and cream which has been applied back in the winter of 1998\/9. It had previously also had between deck adverts but by 2004 these had been removed allowing full views of the original livery (although for <strong>701<\/strong> its original livery was painted when it had an open top!). We see <strong>701<\/strong> and its green and cream paint at North Pier on 9th September 2004.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=31652\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31652\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-31652\" title=\"1.701-gp\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1.701-gp1-550x379.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"379\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1.701-gp1-550x379.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1.701-gp1-1024x706.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1.701-gp1.jpg 1145w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By 2019 and <strong>701<\/strong> had been painted in a unique red and white livery \u2013 a style it had originally carried in the 1990s and had been returned to the tram in 2014, albeit this time including FTS logos on the sides. The tram is now a regular performer on heritage tours throughout the year.
