{"id":29956,"date":"2019-09-17T17:59:32","date_gmt":"2019-09-17T16:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=29956"},"modified":"2019-09-17T17:59:32","modified_gmt":"2019-09-17T16:59:32","slug":"picture-in-time-blackpool-engineering-car-754","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=29956","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Blackpool Engineering Car 754"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have a lot to be grateful for to various transport undertakings across the country as if they hadn\u2019t converted earlier passenger trams into works cars there may be several types of tram we now enjoy which had been confined to the history books. One such example comes from Blackpool and at the time of the feature of today\u2019s Picture in Time edition was <strong>Engineering Car 754<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Nowadays we know this tram far better as <strong>Marton 31<\/strong> but in the 1970s the tram was very much part of the works fleet in a drab works green livery. <strong>754<\/strong> \u2013 or <strong>4<\/strong> as it was originally numbered when first part of the works fleet \u2013 was converted into an overhead line car in 1934 following its withdrawal as a passenger car. It was renumbered to <strong>754<\/strong> in 1972 which dates this photo to post-1972 when it was captured stabled in the depot outside the Electrical Compound.
