Over the weekend of 11th and 12th May the East Anglia Transport Museum at Carlton Colville went to the seaside with a special 1950s seaside celebration. Whilst the highlight of the weekend was the relaunch into service of Hastings trolleybus 34 after the completion of its restoration and former Hastings trolleybus Happy Harold (which now works under diesel power) visited from Sussex the trams weren\u2019t left out and, as would be expected at a seaside event, Blackpool trams featured heavily \u2013 Standard 159<\/strong> and Marton VAMBAC 11<\/strong>. Trevor Hall visited for the first day of the event as shown in the below photos.<\/p>\n

More often than not if you visit the East Anglia Transport Museum you will see Blackpool Standard 159 in service and that was true during the Seaside event as well. In this view we see 159 at Chapel Road terminus waiting for departure along the line into the woods.<\/p><\/div>\n

The only operational VAMBAC operated tramcar is at Carlton Colville and is Marton VAMBAC 11. The stunning tram is captured here at Chapel Road.<\/p><\/div>\n

Again at Chapel Road we see a busy scene of trams and trolleybuses. Marton VAMBAC 11 is on the left with Standard 159 visible just beyond. Another unique vehicle is also seen here with open top Bournemouth trolleybus 202 \u2013 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the closure of Bournemouth\u2019s trolleybus system.
