{"id":26203,"date":"2019-02-23T18:00:05","date_gmt":"2019-02-23T18:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=26203"},"modified":"2019-02-23T13:38:35","modified_gmt":"2019-02-23T13:38:35","slug":"picture-in-time-croydon-tramlink-2552-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=26203","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Croydon Tramlink 2552"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Moving forward a bit this week with an image from Croydon dated shortly before the start of public services.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The tram included in this photo is <strong>2552<\/strong> \u2013 the penultimate of the Bombardier built CR4000 trams which arrived in Croydon on 24th May 1999 \u2013 and it is shown running along Church Street blinded for a route 1 tram to Wimbledon, although the date of 13th April 2000 was over a month before public services would actually begin. When they did eventually begin all trams to Wimbledon came from Elmers End \u2013 as of course they do again now! \u2013 and this section of line pictured here is part of the single track Croydon Town Centre loop.
