{"id":23874,"date":"2018-09-15T18:08:27","date_gmt":"2018-09-15T17:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=23874"},"modified":"2018-09-15T18:08:27","modified_gmt":"2018-09-15T17:08:27","slug":"picture-in-time-blackpool-balloon-710-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=23874","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Blackpool Balloon 710"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today Picture in Time goes back over 30 years to a time when <strong>Blackpool Balloon 710<\/strong> was on loan at Crich as part of the tram swaps for the Centenary of tramway which saw a number of cars from the national collection head over to the Lancashire coast.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Two trams were sent to Crich in part exchange for those trams from Derbyshire which were playing a major role in the Centenary celebrations \u2013 <strong>Boat 607<\/strong> and <strong>Balloon 710<\/strong>. The Balloon Car \u2013 one of three of the class to have been at Crich over the years, interestingly numerically following with <strong>711<\/strong> and <strong>712<\/strong> the others \u2013 was transported across to Crich in early April 1984 and, still with Blackpool adverts in place, was used extensively in Derbyshire over the next two seasons. It finally headed back to the northwest in December 1985 and the remained in service on its home tramway until withdrawal in 2007. Now part of the Fleetwood Heritage Leisure Trust collection the tram can be found in store at Wyre Dock.<\/p>\n<p>In this first photo we see <strong>710<\/strong> being delivered to Crich in April 1984. Note how different the lorry used back in the 1980s was and also the lack of fence separating the main running line and depot yard. <strong>Paisley 68<\/strong> looks on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?attachment_id=23875\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-23875\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-23875\" title=\"1.710-kc\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1.710-kc-550x366.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1.710-kc-550x366.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1.710-kc-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1.710-kc.jpg 1298w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a>Into 1985 and we see <strong>710<\/strong> in action heading north past the depot with a service apparently for Harrowside!
