We reach the third day of the MER 125th Anniversary events tomorrow and its a big day as Ratchet Car 14<\/strong> will be launched into service after its major overhaul by paid staff and volunteers. And there is plenty more on top of that to keep you occupied – read on for more details.<\/p>\n

Pick of the Day<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Launch of Restored Ratchet Car 14<\/strong><\/p>\n

Come on, what else was going to be the highlight of today?! After the extensive three year restoration 14<\/strong> will be launched back into service by Director of Transport Services Ian Longworth at Derby Castle at 0900 following by a reserved return trip to Laxey for the volunteers and staff involved in the restoration.<\/p>\n

Later in the day members of the public will be able to ride on the tram for the first time between Derby Castle and Groudle departing at 1325, 1425 and 1525.<\/p>\n

Best of the Rest<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Tram and Two Wagons<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tunnel Car 6<\/strong> will haul the two recently restored open wagons \u2013 8<\/strong> and 10<\/strong> \u2013 to Ramsey and back re-enacting a typical MER Edwardian era goods service. Departs Derby Castle at 0920 and back at Derby Castle no later than 1215.<\/p>\n

Evening Parallel run with 1 and 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

A parallel run using 1<\/strong> and 2<\/strong> the full length of the MER from Ramsey. The pair will depart Ramsey at 1800 arriving at Derby Castle no later than 2000 with photo stops en route. In order to get the trams to Ramsey 1<\/strong> will depart Derby Castle at 1625 and 2<\/strong> at 1640.<\/p>\n

Timetable D is scheduled to be in operation throughout this day.<\/em><\/p>\n

All the above events may be subject to change in cases of tram availability and weather. Pre-booking was required for several of the above events and availability on the day may not be possible, please check on the day to avoid disappointment.
