{"id":23626,"date":"2018-08-28T18:22:34","date_gmt":"2018-08-28T17:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=23626"},"modified":"2018-08-28T18:22:34","modified_gmt":"2018-08-28T17:22:34","slug":"picture-in-time-blackpool-open-top-balloon-706","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=23626","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Blackpool Open Top Balloon 706"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most popular trams of the past 30 years in Blackpool is the feature of today\u2019s Picture in Time \u2013 Princess Alice herself, <strong>Open Top Balloon 706<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->As is well known <strong>706<\/strong> was rebuilt into open top condition \u2013 although not a restoration as such with many more modern features included \u2013 in time for the 1985 centenary after the tram suffered damage in a collision at Pleasure Beach on 22nd July 1980. Returned to service in 1985 <strong>706<\/strong> was completed in an original green and cream livery style and also received its now iconic name \u201cPrincess Alice\u201d in a special ceremony.
