{"id":2281,"date":"2012-11-10T19:52:58","date_gmt":"2012-11-10T19:52:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=2281"},"modified":"2012-11-10T19:53:04","modified_gmt":"2012-11-10T19:53:04","slug":"metrolink-bridge-installed-over-m60","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=2281","title":{"rendered":"Metrolink bridge installed over M60"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first of two bridges to be installed over motorways in Greater Manchester for the Metrolink extension to the Airport has been put into place and the work was done so quickly the motorway was able to be opened eight hours early. This bridge was installed over the M60 during a planned closure overnight on 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\/4<sup>th<\/sup> November.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Cllr Andrew Fender, Chair of the TfGM Committee, said: \u201cI\u2019d like to congratulate all those<br \/>\ninvolved in this impressive construction feat, particularly the contractor MPT, for getting the work done so quickly and smoothly. An enormous amount of planning clearly went into ensuring this superstructure could be installed with the least amount of inconvenience to road users \u2013 both in the design of the bridge and the execution of the road closures. That planning has paid off and a major step forward taken in bringing tram services to Wythenshawe and the Airport. I\u2019d like to thank drivers for their patience and understanding during the road closures, which caused heavier traffic than normal around the Princess Parkway area.
