Although the main focus of attention on the Manx Electric Railway is currently the restoration of Ratchet Car 14<\/strong> Derby Castle (and Laxey) Car Sheds have been a hive of activity as preparations ramp up for the 125th Anniversary events (that\u2019s 1st to 8th September 2018 if you haven\u2019t got the message yet!).<\/p>\n

We reported earlier in the year about the return of Winter Saloon 19<\/strong> in the Derby, Laxey & Ramsey Electric Tramway livery but this has not been the only tram to receive a heritage repaint in 2018. Both Crossbench 16<\/strong> and Winter Saloon 20<\/strong> are now in matching 1970s liveries with 20<\/strong> returning to service during late May looking resplendent following its repaint.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile trailer 51<\/strong> has also undergone a full repaint at Laxey and was recently moved back to Derby Castle ahead of its expected use during the busy TT fortnight. 51<\/strong> has been repainted in the livery it carried in the early 1900s and will match the condition of 14<\/strong> to allow the two to be paired together on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

Away from repaints and 2018 is set to see the return to service of trailer 42<\/strong>. This trailer, last operated in 2008, has seen attention over the winter period \u2013 which has included a repaint and the fitting of new footboards \u2013 and will carry passengers once again shortly.<\/p>\n
