{"id":21272,"date":"2018-03-22T18:16:15","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T18:16:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=21272"},"modified":"2018-03-22T18:16:15","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T18:16:15","slug":"picture-in-time-modern-electric-tramways-01","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=21272","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Modern Electric Tramways 01"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we head back into the archives we go down to the Sussex coast for an image from Modern Electric Tramways when that was the centre of their operations.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The tram we see in this black and white image is the Mobile Shop, numbered <strong>01<\/strong>. Having been built in 1960 as a flat bed works truck (with <strong>Boat Car 226<\/strong> providing the chassis) this tram was rebuilt into the condition seen here in 1965 \u2013 the year this photo was taken \u2013 to provide a more secure shop which could be taken back to the safety of the depot each night.
