We are offering another update on the rapid progress on extending the existing trackwork at the Lakeside terminus of the Heaton Park Tramway in Manchester, with more excellent images courtesey of one of the tramway’s regular volunteers.<\/p>\n

Sunday 14th October saw further visible progress on the laying of another line which will ultimately form part of the new depot approach track. This is growing at a very impressive rate and is now just about level with the previously laid track alongside, despite not existing at all just a few weeks ago! On this day further gauging trials also took place on some of the newly laid rails, with Blackpool 623<\/strong> doing the honours this week. As reported previously, this tram has recently received some cosmetic work including cleaning and painting of its fenders which has really improved its appearance.<\/p>\n

Another length of rail is seen being laid down before it is secured in place, with the new sleepers already in situ.<\/p><\/div>\n
