{"id":2037,"date":"2012-10-13T16:23:58","date_gmt":"2012-10-13T15:23:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=2037"},"modified":"2012-10-13T16:23:58","modified_gmt":"2012-10-13T15:23:58","slug":"metrolink-service-performance-update-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=2037","title":{"rendered":"Metrolink Service Performance Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest service performance statistics on the Manchester Metrolink system have been released on the TfGM Committee website \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.transportforgreatermanchestercommittee.gov.uk\/downloads\/file\/4456\/item_05_metrolink_performance\">http:\/\/www.transportforgreatermanchestercommittee.gov.uk\/downloads\/file\/4456\/item_05_metrolink_performance<\/a>.<br \/>\nThis latest report only looks at the one period and that is period 4 between Monday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> July and Sunday 19<sup>th<\/sup> August 2012.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Performance<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The performance as measured by Operated Mileage remained at 98.84% in period 4 \u2013 which was the exact same figure as had been achieved in the previous period. 53% of the total miles lost was because of vehicle reliability.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Major Incidents <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There were just two major incidents in this period (the definition of a major incident in this respect is something which causes delays of at least 30 minutes).<\/p>\n<p><strong>27<sup>th<\/sup> July 2012<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>The track circuit at Cornbrook junction failed at 0828 which caused delays to trams running on the Altrincham and South Manchester\u00a0lines. Trams on these lines were suspended from 0835 with all services from Eccles, MediaCityUK and Oldham running into Piccadilly.\u00a0 The fault was repaired at 0915 and normal services were resumed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3<sup>rd <\/sup><\/strong><strong>August 2012<\/strong>: The Oldham line had to be suspended after a driver passed a signal near Newton Heath and Moston without authority. The control room were unable to remotely<br \/>\nreset it which caused this suspension from 0844. Exactly one hour later trams resumed fully on the Oldham line.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Trams Out of Service<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2006<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>This was the only tram to be out of service during the period. It was taken out of service on 30<sup>th <\/sup>July and returned to service on 7<sup>th<\/sup> September to allow attention under the Special Project Modification Programme. This was the last vehicle to undergo this work as no other T68s will be attended to as they are all due to be withdrawn by 2014.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Complaints<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>494 complaints were received in period 4 (down from 707 in period 3). Service disruptions accounted for 67% of the total complaints.
