Norman Baker MP \u2013 Transport Minister \u2013 visited Nottingham this week to congratulate
\nthe city on getting the go-ahead to construct phase two of Nottingham Express Transit and also to talk about the economic growth, inward investment and job creation that it will bring to the local economy.<\/p>\n

Mr Baker commented: \u201cWe know that trams in Nottingham are already very widely used and this extension will ensure that they continue to be an increasingly important part of the lifeblood of the city \u2013 providing a sustainable alternative to having to take your car into the city centre. The extension \u2013 supported by up to \u00a3371m of Government funding \u2013 will hit the two key government targets of cutting carbon and creating growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Initial construction work on Phase Two has already commenced with the extensions due to
