{"id":19262,"date":"2017-11-04T20:55:53","date_gmt":"2017-11-04T19:55:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=19262"},"modified":"2021-02-12T20:54:54","modified_gmt":"2021-02-12T20:54:54","slug":"picture-in-time-croydon-tramlink-2541","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=19262","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Croydon Tramlink 2541"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Remaining the capital for this week\u2019s modern Picture in Time image we are on the Croydon Tramlink system in 2002 featuring one of the original CR4000 trams \u2013 <strong>2541<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->As with all of the CR4000s <strong>2541<\/strong> was built by Bombardier in Vienna, Austria and was then transported across mainland Europe to Vlissingen in The Netherlands where they boarded the ferry to Dartford and then another road trip to Therapia Lane. All of the trams were delivered to Croydon on a Monday evening with the exception of one \u2013 and that was <strong>2541<\/strong>. Because of heavy snow in Frankfurt as <strong>2541<\/strong> was making its way to port it was delayed and didn\u2019t make it to Croydon until the Thursday of its planned delivery week \u2013 18th February 1999. Once delivered <strong>2541<\/strong> was commissioned for service and entered service at operations started in 2000.<\/p>\n<p>We catch up with <strong>2541<\/strong> in 2002 still with the original roller blinds and livery.
