Over half a million passengers took a ride on Edinburgh Trams during August \u2013 the busiest ever month the line has enjoyed since opening to the public at the end of May 2014. Largely driven by the ever popular Edinburgh Festivals the increased passengers carried led to over \u00a31 million in revenue.<\/p>\n
2017 saw a new all night service operated on Saturdays throughout the Festival along with additional services running at peak times to keep up with the increased demand. The increase in revenue is a 14% increase from August 2016.<\/p>\n
Dean Anderson, Edinburgh Trams Customer Experience Manager, said: \u201cWe decided to run the night trams this year after hearing from customers who wanted an easy way to get home or back to their hotel after the late-night events that have become such a feature of the festival. Thousands of festival fans took advantage of the additional services and they\u2019ve certainly contributed to a bumper month that\u2019s seen customer numbers 12 per cent higher than during the same period last year.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
