{"id":18354,"date":"2017-08-24T10:15:49","date_gmt":"2017-08-24T09:15:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=18354"},"modified":"2021-02-13T18:55:33","modified_gmt":"2021-02-13T18:55:33","slug":"work-underway-on-new-look-crumpsall-stop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=18354","title":{"rendered":"Work underway on new look Crumpsall stop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Work has now started on transforming Manchester Metrolink\u2019s Crumpsall stop which will eventually allow services from the new Trafford Park line \u2013 due to open in 2020 \u2013 to terminate here and return through Manchester City Centre. As well as providing a service on the Trafford Park line this will give an improved service to passengers travelling from Crumpsall, Abraham Moss and Queen\u2019s Road into Manchester City Centre.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The plans will see new track installed at the stop allowing services to reverse and will also see a larger Manchester bound stop opened to the public. There will be better access with a new track level pedestrian crossing and improved stairs. The stop will have an open design to further improve passenger safety and security providing a \u201cmore pleasant place to wait for trams\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Phase one of the works has now started and should be completed by mid 2018. This work will see the old lift shaft removed alongside the footbridge and disabled access ramp on the Manchester bound platform. The stairs on the Bury bound platform will also be upgraded.<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Andrew Fender, Chair of the TfGM Committee, said: \u201cWork is now well under way on the new Trafford Park line and it\u2019s good to see the benefits will extend to customers living in the Crumpsall area. The new-look stop will offer a much more accessible, pleasant and safer space for Metrolink passengers.
