{"id":1758,"date":"2012-09-05T18:54:47","date_gmt":"2012-09-05T18:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=1758"},"modified":"2012-09-05T18:54:47","modified_gmt":"2012-09-05T18:54:47","slug":"1010-becomes-eighth-t68-to-be-withdrawn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=1758","title":{"rendered":"1010 becomes eighth T68 to be withdrawn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another historically significant T68 has been withdrawn from service with the \u201cRoyal\u00a0 Tram\u201d <strong>1010<\/strong> running its last journeys on 2<sup>nd <\/sup>September \u2013 becoming the eighth of the initial 12 to end its Metrolink career.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>1010<\/strong> was the tram that was chosen to carry Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of\u00a0 Edinburgh when they officially opened the Manchester Metrolink system on 17<sup>th<\/sup> July 1992.<br \/>\nIt was then named Golden Jubilee in 2002 to commemorate this event as a result of this Royal link. As mentioned above it was taken out of service following a day on the Bury to Piccadilly route.<\/p>\n<p>Eight of the T68s have now been withdrawn from service with another four expected to be taken out of use imminently. This will then conclude the initial withdrawals although the<br \/>\nremaining 20 T68s and T68As will also be taken out of service by 2014.
