Graham Cusick, the longest server driver on Nottingham Express Transit, has retired after 14 years behind the controls. Graham was one of the first intake of eight drivers employed in February 2003 at the start of testing and commissioning of the original lines between Station Street and Hucknall\/Phoenix Park and since then he has become the line\u2019s longest serving drivers.<\/p>\n
Graham commented: \u201cIt\u2019s a real mixture of emotions. I\u2019m sad to be leaving behind a job I\u2019ve really enjoyed and people I\u2019ve worked so well with, but I\u2019m looking forward to being able to put my feet up for a bit – even if my wife has a number of jobs lined up for me! \u201cIt\u2019ll be strange not to be driving trams anymore but I look forward to using the network as a passenger and seeing a few of my former colleagues.\u201d<\/p>\n
Graham was presented with a special certificate, gifts and cards thanking him for his service at a presentation at Wilkinson Street.<\/p>\n
Darren Smith, NET\u2019s Deputy Operations Manager, commented: \u201cCome rain or shine we\u2019ve always been able to rely on Graham to get out there and drive trams, helping our customers to travel across Nottingham. He\u2019s been a fantastic asset to the city\u2019s tram network and he\u2019s sure to be missed by staff and customers alike.
