Work on constructing Manchester Metrolink\u2019s Second City Crossing (2CC) is coming to an end with the majority of works set to be completed in time for Manchester\u2019s famous Christmas markets. To this end there will be some changes for traffic access on some of the roads in the city centre from Saturday 22nd October.<\/p>\n
Princess Street will be temporarily reopened to its original one-way working from Saturday 22nd October whilst work to reconstruct the roadway along Albert Street from Brazennose Street to John Dalton Street will see a road closure for one week.<\/p>\n
In addition from Thursday 20th October finishing works will take place on the Princess Street\/West Mosley Street junction. This means that West Mosley Street, at its junction with Princess Street, will be temporarily closed for approximately three weeks.<\/p>\n
Peter Cushing, TfGM\u2019s Metrolink Director, said: \u201cIt\u2019s the final push for the Second City Crossing now and we\u2019re working hard to get all major works finished before the busy Christmas period. We\u2019ll be in a position to reopen Princess Street to one-way traffic this Saturday, with some temporary road closures in the area as we finish works around Albert Square. I\u2019d encourage anyone driving in the area in coming weeks to plan ahead and familiarise themselves with the road layout.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Second City Crossing is due to open in 2017 but before passengers can enjoy a ride from St Peter\u2019s Square along Princess Street, Cross Street and Corporation Street to Victoria Station a major testing and commissioning programme will take place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
