{"id":1514,"date":"2012-08-13T19:59:28","date_gmt":"2012-08-13T19:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=1514"},"modified":"2012-08-13T19:59:28","modified_gmt":"2012-08-13T19:59:28","slug":"repaints-start-and-repaints-approach-an-end-at-beamish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=1514","title":{"rendered":"Repaints start and repaints approach an end at Beamish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Work has now started at Beamish on repainting <strong>Gateshead 10<\/strong> into British Railways green with all efforts being made on completing the paint job by the start of the Power from the Past event between 30<sup>th<\/sup> August and 2<sup>nd<\/sup> September. Meanwhile work on <strong>Oporto 196<\/strong> is nearing completion and it certainly looks as if this tram will be quite a start at the event in its new livery.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The majority of the paintwork has\u00a0 now been completed on <strong>196<\/strong> and recent attention has seen the trolleybase refitted along with all the platform vestibule components. A few jobs remain to be done on the tram and once these are completed it shouldn\u2019t be too long before the tram is seen outside once again looking very different to how it did last time it carried passengers. As part of the trams overhaul it has been repainted in the distinctive South Shields blue and primrose livery which will provide a welcome contrast with the<br \/>\nother trams in the Beamish fleet.<\/p>\n<p>With Power from the Past rapidly approaching attention is now also being turned towards <strong>Gateshead 10<\/strong>. This tram is to be painted into British Railways green, a livery which it carried when it was sold by Gateshead for operation on the Grimsby and Immingham Tramway. As part of this work the tram will once again become <strong>Grimsby and Immingham 26<\/strong> and s sure to be popular with enthusiasts, many of whom have been calling for this to happen for many years. The initial work being undertaken on the tram has seen the Gateshead livery sanded down after which a start can be made on the painting of the new livery. It will certainly be a tight timescale to get the tram completed in time for Power from the Past but if any organisation can achieve it then it is Beamish.
