In an unexpected but very welcome move, the Heaton Park Tramway are now running a tram service every Tuesday during the school summer holidays.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>For a while now, a good number of volunteers have been present at the park on most Tuesdays carrying out a variety of tasks. Now, it has been decided to utilise these people even more, by operating a basic service so that the public can sample a ride on a historic tram on a weekday. Hopefully, if the weather is kind over the next few weeks, this will be a profitable venture as this tramway is in desperate need of all the funding it can get right now, as plans to build a new depot and expand the operating fleet on site progress.<\/p>\n<p>Having started the new Tuesday operation on 24th July, trams will operate again on 31st July, and should then be in service every Tuesday throughout August.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this week, Blackpool Transport began operating their popular heritage tram coastal tours seven days a week, but they are not the only tramway to have commenced a midweek vintage tram service for the peak summer period.
