{"id":14321,"date":"2016-04-10T10:05:53","date_gmt":"2016-04-10T09:05:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=14321"},"modified":"2016-04-10T10:05:53","modified_gmt":"2016-04-10T09:05:53","slug":"picture-in-time-manchester-metrolink-1001-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=14321","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Manchester Metrolink 1001"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We head back 21 years to 1995 for today\u2019s edition of Picture in Time with a view of the very first of the T68s constructed for Manchester Metrolink \u2013 <strong>1001<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->As <strong>1001<\/strong> has previously featured in this series we don\u2019t need to go into its full history again but suffice to say it was delivered to Manchester on 29th August 1991 and its major claim to fame throughout its life was when it became the very first LRV to run on the streets of the UK as part of a gauging run in Manchester City Centre on 15th September 1991. The end came for the tram on 7th August 2012 when it was withdrawn from service and it then left for scrapping on 15th April 2014.<\/p>\n<p>This view shows <strong>1001<\/strong> at an unidentified station on the first phase of Metrolink with a service for Piccadilly.
