Barbara is the founder of Nottingham based charity When You Wish Upon A Star.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><strong>222<\/strong> had only been named Sam and Amy back in October 2015 but this was a short lived name as part of a joint promotion between NET and local radio station Gem106.<\/p>\n<p>Barbara\u2019s name will stay on <strong>222<\/strong> for the next 12 months having been named as the first annual NET Community Hero \u2013 an award planned to mark the work of a local community stalwart.<\/p>\n<p>Barbara set up When You Wish Upon A Star in 1990 to help grant the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses. The charity has helped grant over 16,500 wishes across the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Two trams are still to receive a name with both <strong>225<\/strong> and <strong>231<\/strong> currently running sans names but they are both expected to be honoured with names in the coming months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nottingham Express Transit Citadis 222 has become the first tram from the city to receive a second name following the application of the name Barbara White OBE in a special ceremony on the 12th anniversary of the tramway.
