{"id":13634,"date":"2016-01-13T20:37:10","date_gmt":"2016-01-13T19:37:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=13634"},"modified":"2016-01-13T20:37:10","modified_gmt":"2016-01-13T19:37:10","slug":"picture-in-time-douglas-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=13634","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Douglas 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we featured the Santa Specials on the Douglas Horse Tramway yesterday evening it seems rather apt from today\u2019s Picture in Time image comes from that very tramway with a view of regular wet weather tram no. <strong>27<\/strong> on 26th August 1992.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><strong>27<\/strong> was built as one of a batch of three enclosed trams by G F Milnes &amp; Co in 1892 providing completely covered accommodation for the passengers although the driver is still partially open to the elements with only a half windscreen provided to allow for the reins to be taken of the horse. <strong>27<\/strong> remains a regular sight on Douglas Promenade during periods of adverse weather when \u2013 along with <strong>29<\/strong> \u2013 it provides the Horse Tramway service.<\/p>\n<p>This photograph \u2013 taken on 26th August 1992 \u2013 shows <strong>27<\/strong> preparing to depart from Strathallan with another journey to the Sea Terminal.
