{"id":1288,"date":"2012-07-07T14:42:22","date_gmt":"2012-07-07T14:42:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=1288"},"modified":"2012-07-07T14:42:22","modified_gmt":"2012-07-07T14:42:22","slug":"woman-hit-by-tram-in-blackpool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=1288","title":{"rendered":"Woman hit by tram in Blackpool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first major pedestrian versus tram incident has happened on the upgraded Blackpool Tramway when a woman in her early 20s was hit by a tram on the newly installed pedestrian crossing near Lauderdale Avenue in Cleveleys \u2013 the location where local residents had been fighting to keep a road crossing open. The incident happened at approximately 1240 on Wednesday 4<sup>th<\/sup> July and the woman was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment to injuries to her legs. Regrettably local Councillors used the incident to try and score political points by continuing their campaign to get the road crossing reinstated.
