The renovation of Hull 96 <\/strong>at the Heaton Park Tramway continues to make impressive progress ahead of its planned October launch. On Tuesday 25th August, the tram was briefly brought outside to allow Blackpool 623 <\/strong>to be placed over the inspection pit for servicing, allowing a good view of the most recent work carried out on the car.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Recent progress on 96 <\/strong>has seen the replacement of body trim and rubbing strips, extensive preparation of the bodywork for final painting – including the application of several layers of undercoat and body filling – and refitting of the floor slats on the end platforms. The car’s truck frame is also in the process of being repainted at present. The remainder of its glazing will be refitted shortly and final undercoating applied before Heritage Painting begin work on applying the ornate maroon and cream livery to be worn by the tram. This is the same company who were recently contracted to repaint Blackpool 680 <\/strong>and if 96 <\/strong>looks as good as it does now, then the finished result should be absolutely stunning.<\/p>\n
