As we have reported previously all London Tramlink services on the Wimbledon branch have been terminating short at Dundonald Road from 13th July and will continue to do so until October. This is because of the works at Wimbledon to construct a second platform and the associated trackwork required to allow trams to access both platforms. During the works passengers are being advised that they can either make the short 10 minute walk between Dundonald Road and Wimbledon or alternatively change onto service buses at Merton Park, Morden Road or Phipps Bridge. It seems at this stage that most passengers are happy to make the 10 minute walk to continue their journeys.<\/p>\n

The Passenger Information Displays are showing passengers the destination of the tram and also let them know it is only a 10 minute walk to Wimbledon.<\/p><\/div>\n

Informative posters have been put up to let passengers know just how they can get to Wimbledon.<\/p><\/div>\n

Maps on board the trams have been altered - as happens on the Tube - to inform passengers of the closure.<\/p><\/div>\n

Initially all trams just said Dundonald Road but this was changed to Dundonald Road for Wimbledon as seen on 2553 here. Eagle eyed readers may notice that the font on the destination screens has been altered and is now is TfL standard New Johnson.<\/p><\/div>\n

Trams also have this card in the cab windows. All in all there isn't much excuse for passengers not to know about the closure between Dundonald Road and Wimbledon. (All Photographs by Ian Buck)<\/p><\/div>\n
