RECRUITMENT DRIVE LAUNCHED FOR EDINBURGH TRAMWAY CONSTRUCTION
Trams for Edinburgh – Sunday 21st September 2008

A recruitment drive has been launched in the Scottish capital by Bilfinger Berger (the firm who have the contract to construct the Trams for Edinburgh project) to find 50 people to assist the 70 already in position in the construction.

The jobs that Bilfinger Berger wish to fill include site engineers, foremen, sub agents, quantity surveyors, project managers, an environmental advisor and a business systems assistant. The construction phase will see the track laid and 11 bridges, nine sub-stations, 22 tram stops and a tram maintenance depot built.

Richard Walker, Managing Director of Bilfinger Berger UK, is quoted in the Edinburgh Evening News: “The Edinburgh tram project is one of the most exciting and challenging infrastructure developments currently happening anywhere in the UK. We already have an excellent team in place in Edinburgh and, with the construction phase of the project gathering momentum, we are now in a position to ramp up our recruitment. This project will deliver the world-class tram system which Scotland's capital deserves and we're delighted that we are able to support the local economy by boosting employment in the city."
