DON’T MISS IT: CRICH ENTHUSIASTS DAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 2007
Crich Tramway Village – Sunday 23rd September 2007
Next Saturday (29th September) sees the annual Enthusiasts Day at the Crich Tramway Village – home of the National Tramway Museum, where there are opportunities to access parts of the museum collections not normally open to the public.
At last years Enthusiasts Day there was a procession of Scottish trams at Town End including Edinburgh 35 whilst Sheffield 15, John Bull, Dundee 21 andHill of Howth 10 also made appearances out. There was also a rare chance for Grimsby & Immingham 14 out of the main line with it stabled at Town End with Sheffield Works 330 at Wakebridge. Just what will they come up with for 2007?
Mike Crabtree, event organiser, said: “This is a very special event in our calendar. During the course of the day we will be running as many trams in our operational fleet as possible including some special works cars.”
As well as tram action there will be demonstrations of the traverser, moving trams between the depot and the vast exhibition hall and behind the scenes tours of the workshop to see restoration work in progress.
Admission prices are the usual prices with adults costing £9.50, children (3-15) £5, senior citizens £8.50 and a family ticket (2 adults and 3 children) £26.
For people travelling to the event by train (like your Webmaster) there will a free vintage bus service operating from Whatstandwell railway station (on the Derby-Matlock line). This will run as follows:
