Serco Docklands – operator of the Docklands Light Railway – are the latest to be celebrating their success at the National Light Rail Awards with two awards. The two awards presented to Serco Docklands were Operator of the Year and Best Customer Initiative.
The award for the Operator of the Year was awarded for the company’s performance during a time of immense change and disruption on the railway as the DLR develop the system to run three carriage trains.
The Best Customer Initiative award was won for the marketing campaign Serco Docklands has run to communicate the many closures, service changes and disruptions during works to all its valued customers.
David Godley, Managing Director of Serco Docklands, said: “We are delighted with these awards. During our toughest year operating this railway we have proved we continue to put customers first and achieve great results. This is a credit to the hard work and diligence of all our staff.”
Ian Brown, Managing Director of London Rail, added: “Despite the massive 3-car engineering work, Serco Docklands have been acknowledged as the 'Operator of the Year' and indeed the reward for the 'Best Customer Initiative' in informing passengers of the week-by-week, engineering programme. This is no mean feat.”
