GAS SPRAYED ON TRAM
London Tramlink – Friday 24th October 2008

An altercation between two groups of youths on board a tram ended with a gas – possibly CS gas – being sprayed. The incident happened on Wednesday 8th October at Phipps Bridge and was on board a packed tram at around 1530.

British Transport Police Sergeant Shawn Taylor said: “The carriage was very crowded with school students, shoppers and young children when there was an altercation between a group of youths. During the fracas it appears that one of the youths sprayed a substance, which was believed to be CS, in the crowded carriage. The youth was seen talking to several other youths on the tram and we would appeal for those individuals to contact police as well. The youth was described as a black male, approximately 6ft tall, with black, cropped hair. He was aged 16 to 18 years, had a proportionate build and was wearing all black with a white T shirt under his top.”
