LATEST METRO PERFORMANCE FIGURES
Midland Metro – Sunday 7th October 2007

The latest issue of Tramlines is out and gives the performance figures for Midland Metro for the month of August.

These figures reveal that 97.7% of all services were run in accordance with the timetable throughout August, this despite the tramway having to be closed for a while at the start of the month due to a fire close to the tracks at Handsworth.

Dean Watkins, Operations Manager at Travel Midland Metro, said: “Once again we were pleased with our overall performance during August but our services were affected on several occasions due to circumstances out of our control. On 1st August we, along with our colleagues at the Fire Service, were forced to close the line as a result of a serious fire in the Handsworth area. There were also two road traffic accidents in mid-August on Bilston Road and in West Bromwich which affected us for a short time. It’s obviously difficult when these incidents do occur on the system but our staff worked very hard alongside the emergency services on each occasion to get tram services back to normal.”

* The September 2007 issue of Tramlines also features news about the competition winners who got a VIP visit to the Midland Metro HQ and also qualifications for drivers. To read it all click here.
