Tramlink Engineering Works

Two sets of engineering works on London Tramlink are taking place over the next few
days as work progresses on increasing capacity on the network. Firstly the line between Mitcham and Mitcham Junction is closed again on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May with trams running as far as Mitcham Junction from New Addington, a replacement bus service between Mitcham Junction and Mitcham and then a shuttle tram service from there to Wimbledon. This closure is in connection with the work to double track this section of line.

The line is also closed from Saturday 26th to Tuesday 29th May between Elmers End and Arena to allow works to take place so that extra trams can run through to Elmers End when line 4 is introduced sometime in June. No replacement bus service is being provided with any would be passengers advised to travel on London Bus routes 289 and 356 by any reasonable route.

Line 4 to be introduced hopefully on 18th June, with services extended to Wimbledon in peak time.

Also the Siding near Wimbledon could possibly become a passing loop according to a member of TFL Staff

Great to have something that is diefrfent from having the same livery for all of Croydon trams for the past three years, even if it is just an advertising livery on display for only for a short while. Now that the man who carried out the horrible deed of destroying Reeves furniture store is behind bars, it would be nice if House of Reeves would also suggest an advertising livery on one of the trams for promoting it’s own store! Hopefully this would perhaps help in the reconstruction of the lovely store which I had passed so many times by tram and which I miss, as we are sure that Maurice and Trevor Reeves do.I would wonder if there may also be a specially liveried tram by next July to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the end of London’s First Generation Trams.Oh, and of course, the Olympics ..
