Supertram services disrupted following death of man after stabbing

A man has died in hospital after being stabbed in Sheffield City Centre on Friday 17th September. The incident occurred on High Street after the incident at 1630 leading to all tram services through the area being suspended and revised services being put in place.

The man was taken to hospital by air ambulance but sadly died of his injuries with a man in his 30s arrested at the scene.

With a major investigation launched by South Yorkshire Police no trams could run through the main spine of the Supertram network for the remainder of the evening. During the disruption trams ran as follows:

  • Blue route – Halfway to Sheffield Station and Shalesmoor to Malin Bridge
  • Purple route – Herdings Park to Sheffield Station
  • Yellow route – Meadowhall to Sheffield Station and Shalesmoor to Middlewood
  • Tram-Train route – Rotherham Parkgate to Sheffield Station
