September Review – Crich: No. 8 – Anniversary line-ups

With the theme for 2018’s Simply Trams being anniversaries and birthdays there were a number of photo line-ups on that theme with several of the collection being lucky enough to be celebrating significant anniversaries.

Opening in 1898 the Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramroad was 120 years old in 2018 and, as mentioned previously in this series, to commemorate this occasion Rack 2 returned to service for one day only. Before it operated the first service of the day it was lined-up at Stephenson Place with other trams which operated on the Tramroad: Pantograph 167 and the Electric Locomotive.

The big depot fan line-up saw many of the birthday trams line-up together. On the far side we have Prague 180 (110 years old and 50 years since arrival at Crich), Blackpool & Fleetwood 2 (120 years old), Blackpool 167 (90 years) and Croydon Tramlink 058 (40 years).

Although not matching the anniversary theme the afternoon line-up saw Douglas Marine Head Drive 1 and the Manchester Horse Drawn Tower Wagon displayed on the depot fan. For the open topper this came the day before three number 1s from its home island met up at Laxey during the MER 125 events. (All Photographs by Gareth Prior)
