METROLINK TRAM FREQUENCIES CHANGED & REPLACEMENT BUSES IMPROVED
Manchester Metrolink – Sunday 17th May 2009

The frequencies of trams on the Bury line of Metrolink were changed on Tuesday (12th May) and are now running to an eight minute frequency using single trams because of power supply problems. Meanwhile, after feedback from passengers the replacement bus services being used during the city centre trackwork on are to be improved from tomorrow (Monday 18th May). A simplified more direct bus link will be introduced enabling passengers to get to Victoria, Piccadilly Gardens, Piccadilly Station and St Peters Square using one bus.

Buses will run every 12 minutes from the first bus until 1900 Monday to Saturdays and every 20 minutes after 1900 and all day Sundays.

Philip Purdy, GMPTE’s Metrolink Director, said: “We've listened to passengers and they've told us that this is what they want - a service that reflects Metrolink's key destinations. Very few people were picking up the replacement bus services at Shudehill and our feedback showed that passengers would prefer to get the bus from St Peter's Square rather than G-Mex. This means that we can now run a simplified service every 12 minutes during the day - matching the tram services at Victoria and St Peter's Square. We'll be making sure the new route is well advertised with a new leaflet and posters and signage across the city centre."

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
